Gambling
When you struggle with compulsive gambling, it is difficult to take that first step to ask for help. Whether your thing is sports betting, slots, poker, or games on your phone, the overwhelming feeling of being driven to a behavior that is hurting you and your loved ones is the same. Recovery is possible. Working with a therapist can help you gain insight on the maladaptive behavior, process and move forward in handling the consequences, and work through any relational strains and financial issues you may have. Therapists are non judgemental and can provide a safe space to discuss the shame associated with gambling.
You will learn skills to understand and manage triggers and urges, and learn how to create a supportive community of people around you who have been in your shoes. You may choose to develop other healthy alternative activities, establish financial responsibility and foster positive relationships with loved ones. There is hope where there is the drive to seek change.
